The Department of Emergency Medicine is proud to sponsor an innovative two year fellowship in Administration. The fellowship was jointly founded by Dr. Mark Moseley and Dr. Gary Katz; administrative faculty members and leaders in the Department of Emergency Medicine. Their vision shaped a unique training program centered on a rigorous, individualized executive training curriculum designed to produce thought leaders in Emergency Medicine. Other ED Administrative Fellowships focus primarily on managerial or medical director skill sets. However OSU fellowship is designed to afford the fellow a broad range of educational and experiential opportunities that will build leadership competencies while providing the freedom to create their unique niche in emergency medicine.
The Department of Emergency Medicine, The OSU Faculty Group Practice, and the OSU Wexner Medical Center
provide an unparalleled educational environment for the fellowship. Fellows practice clinically as a junior academic attending in 2 different clinical settings, spending time at Ohio State’s 106 bed main campus ED and at OSU East, a 25 bed ED located in an urban, underserved area. Operational skills sets and project management experiences are enhanced through longitudinal operations and strategic department projects for which the fellow has primary responsibility. The fellow also works closely with the program director to identify key committee experiences, medical director tasks, board of director involvement, and educational and research projects in which to participate. The fellow will also work with the executive leadership of the Department as well as Medical Center leadership in order to gain experience in strategic planning and overall medical center administration. Finally the program provides the flexibility and diverse resources to accommodate whatever passion the fellow may wish to pursue. Previous fellows have focused on such diverse interests as investing, IT, and free clinic management.
We seek future leaders in the specialty, and outstanding applicants are encouraged to apply. Robert Cooper, MD, MPH, MBA
serves as the fellowship program director and he welcomes the opportunity to share more information regarding the fellowship.
